Table Tennis Tables

Table tennis tables are not just used in school sports and sport clubs. Table tennis tables are also getting more and more popular in freetime. Either in the garden, cellar or on the loft - playing on a table tennis table offers fun, keeps fit and is ideal for everyone.
The quality of table tennis tables has become more and more improved in the meantime. Especially regarding play features, play-fun and security, enormous advancements are visible.

In general, table tennis tables are divided into indoor and outdoor use.
Our guide for table tennis tables serves as support to chose and find the right decision.

  • weatherproof / non weatherproof table tennis tables:
    An indoor table tennis table should never be used outdoors even when the sun is shining, as the the chipboard could absorb moisture and swell. Furthermore the indoor table tops are not UV resistant and could fade, respectively lose their good playability. If you would like to use the table outdoors once in a while, buying a weather-proof table tennis table is highly recommended.


  • different tops for weatherproof tables:
    Aluminium composite tops as well as melamine resin top are used for outdoor tables, both are weather- and waterproof. The composite tops used by Kettler and Joola are made from plywood boards covered with aluminium, the melamime resin boards Cornilleau use on the other hand, are just made of one very dense and hard material only.
    In our experience, both varieties are very weatherproof and the aluminium composite tops are only slightly superior regarding durability.


  • playing characteristics / thickness of the table tennis table:
    The table tennis table's characteristics determine the quality of the ball's rebound. The thicker and harder the table, the smoother and higher the table tennis ball will bounce back.
    Regarding indoor table tennis tables the plywood boards thickness varies between 16 and 25mm. For indoor tables we recommend a thickness of at least 19mm for private use, models with a thickness of more than 22mm have good playing characteristics.
    Kettler's outdoor table tennis table aluminum composite tops with 22mm thickness have recommendable playing characteristics. In comparison, Cornilleau's table tennis tables already achieve recommendable playing characteristics at a thickness of 7mm, due to their melamine resin board's greater densisty and hardness.
    A sturdy undercarriage improves the playing characteristics.


  • Sturdiness and usability / children using the table tennis table:
    Especially if children use the table we recommend buying a sturdy, tilt-resistant table wich is easy to use.
    Warning: Please be sure to place emphasis on buying a very sturdy table tennis table if children will be using it as well as children, from experience, do not always handle table tennis tables in an appropriate manner.
